Hello! I'm Tim, a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to improving mental health and quality of life for individuals in surrounding communities, I have a particular interest in Service Members and their families. I want to share my journey from serving in the Army to becoming a counselor, and my mission to provide support during challenging times.
The Call to Serve
After completing my service in the Army, I became acutely aware of the importance of mental health care. Many veterans and their families face significant challenges, from adapting to civilian life to coping with trauma. For example, statistics show that 20% of veterans experience PTSD, and many others struggle with anxiety and depression. This realization compelled me to make a lasting difference in the lives of those who have served our country.
Having been in their shoes, I understand military-related concerns deeply. My individual experiences allow me to empathize with my clients, making it easier for them to open about their struggles and feel safe during our sessions.
Educational Background
My academic journey has been vital in shaping my professional career. I earned an Associates of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. To provide effective counseling, I pursued a Master’s in Human Relations with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Oklahoma. In graduate school, I explored various counseling approaches and discovered that cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy resonated with me. Therapy empowers clients by focusing on actionable steps and practical solutions, facilitating meaningful change.
Professional Journey
As I began my professional journey towards becoming a Counseling Associate, I gained valuable experience in the behavioral health sector. Working as a Behavior Technician, Registered Behavior Technician, and Intake Specialist, I gathered insights into various aspects of mental health. Each role reinforced my passion for helping others and equipped me with diverse skills.
Currently, I am fully licensed as a Behavioral Health Support Provider in Texas, enabling me to provide independent counseling. With over eight years of clinical experience, my goal remains clear: create a safe and supportive environment for my clients to thrive.
Creating MindCare Therapeutic Solutions
Recognizing the unique challenges faced by Service Members, I founded MindCare Therapeutic Solutions. My mission is to provide essential resources and support to help individuals and families navigate life's difficulties.
The mental health statistics in the U.S. are alarming. According to the American Psychological Association, 1 in 5 adults experience mental health issues each year. It is our duty as mental health professionals to reduce stigma and provide accessible, effective care.
If you are considering counseling, I encourage you to seek a mental health professional you feel comfortable with. The first step toward healing can be as simple as reaching out—an empowering action that can lead to transforming your life.
Reflecting on My Journey
Every journey has its struggles, but each challenge can also be an opportunity for growth and healing. I invite anyone in need to take the brave step of seeking guidance.
As I reflect on my journey from Army service to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, I feel grateful for the opportunity to serve others in a new capacity. I am passionate about aiding Service Members and their families and am committed to making a positive impact in the mental health field. If you or someone you know is seeking counseling, please reach out. Together, we can navigate the complexities of life and work towards achieving your goals.
I look forward to hearing from you!
